Visitors ‘shoal’ back to Blue Planet Aquarium

The North West’s shark loving public have been back visiting Blue Planet Aquarium this weekend for their o’fish’al re-opening!
The aquarium, located at Cheshire Oaks, re-opened on Saturday 4th July with new Covid-19 safety measures in place. Visitors have safely returned to see their favourite underwater creatures from large sand tiger sharks and Pacific sting rays to caimans and a giant Pacific octopus.

Odin Morris, General Manager at Blue Planet Aquarium said: “Before this closure, the aquarium had never closed to the public for more than a day since we opened in June 1998 and it has been a great emotional and financial strain.
“During the past 15 weeks the Aquarium team have continued to work incredibly hard caring for the animals and maintaining the site, they have done a fantastic job.
“Since closure we have received numerous messages of support from our members and from the local community – we cannot thank everyone enough for the kind words and we can’t wait to welcome you back now we’re open!” Odin added.
In addition to signage, hand sanitising facilities and hygiene guards, Blue Planet Aquarium is observing a strict one-directional journey and site capacity has been restricted to ensure all staff and visitors can safely adhere to the social distancing government guidelines.
