About The Blue Planet Aquarium
Blue Planet Aquarium is home to over 100 living displays across 16 themed zones taking guests on a journey of underwater discovery. It is home to Europe’s largest collection of sharks housed in a 3.8 million litre exhibition display.
About the Role
The responsibilities of the Aquarist will be varied, challenging, but extremely rewarding. Responsible for the freshwater displays, a hands-on approach is required to ensure you achieve the highest standard of animal care, husbandry and presentation of exhibits.
This is full time post working 5 days over 7 and includes regular weekends and bank holidays.
About You
Already an experienced Aquarist with knowledge of both marine and freshwater systems you will have infectious enthusiasm for creating stunning and innovative displays and keen to share knowledge with your team and guests.
A degree or equivalent in a relevant biological science is advantageous, as is previous relevant experience in the visitor attraction industry. Practical experience of working with freshwater fish and knowledge of aquarium life support systems are essential.
The successful candidate will be expected to be very personable and able to communicate well with our guests, including delivering public talks.
